... was born in a small town in Idaho, in 1964, but a few months later her family moved to an even smaller town in the 'Alaskan panhandle' when her father took up a teaching post there. They moved to Eagle Point, a district of Anchorage, in 1969, and three years later they settled in Wasilla, which is also part of the Anchorage metropolitan area but counts in its own right as Alaska's sixth–largest city.
